Do you like bathing the baby? I enjoy it with babies who are a few months old and can sit on the tub. I am afraid to bathe the new-borns.

I'm scared. My mom bathed both my sons. I started bathing my older son when he was four years old and my second son when he was two years old. But I'd like to give it a shot now.

I have three children so I am pretty comfortable with bathing them at any age. I don't mind the newborns. I just never put them into the tub until the umblical cord stump fell off. I would just give them a sponge bath on the changing table until then. Once the stump fell off I would bath them in the big tub. Now that I think of it, that may have been my least favorite age for bathing - between the time when the stump fell off and when they were big enough to sit up in the tub on their own. It can be tricky to hold them up with one hand and wash them with the other. I just did it in the tub with maybe an inch of water in it. Or you can even do it in the kitchen sink at that age! But not at the same time as you are washing your dishes!!

I just gave my newborn a bath this morning. I understand what you mean about being afraid to bathe them though-they're so slippery. I think it's MUCH easier once they can sit unassisted.

its actually been about 7 years since my own son was young enough to call a "baby", and its so funny now when I go in to check on him in the shower, he freaks out and says "i dont want you to see IT"...i have to remind him I did change that diaper a time or two. I remember when he was very young, everytime we'd put him in the baby bath tub, he'd pee right over the side, we've got tons of pics of him doin this! I currently babysit a 2 month old, and she LOVES baths, as long as I use the smaller shower head that detaches. I suggested that her mom take showers with her, and apparently the baby is addicted! I'm 19 weeks pregnant myself, and I cant WAIT until our little one is here and we can take showers with him/her (hopefully HER!). It will be my husband's first child, and I think its something he wont fully understand until the baby is here.

Though I am single but I have experience in bathing a baby of few months old . This is because mom has taken care of my 3 nieces and nephew when they are babies. I also know how to diaper -change a baby but I dare not bathe or carry a new-born as I afraid that I will fracture this little fragile cutie. :-)

It's fun to do that. I enjoy bathing my 6 months old. I started to bath her at 3 weeks. It was hard trying to hold her and bathe her at the same time. But, I've learned really quickly and it became easier.

I enjoy the bathing of infants as well as toddlers. The squirmy ones I don't like to bath so much. My son was always busy and I had to sit him in my lap in the tub to hold him and bath him. When he was an infant I could lay him on a bath board with a piece of foam so he did not slip and I bathed him the sink. It was easy. By the time they can sit up they get too squirmy for the sink and have to go into the tub.
