Vegetarian, organic

The Healthy Option....... - Rich, colour succulent food, much better than bloody discoloured meat

I understand why some people still choose to eat meat, but if it wasnt for the price surely we should all at least aim for organic if we cannot bring ourselves to be vegetarian. Free Range organic is better for the animals and if more people bought this rather than cheap super value meat the prices would drop and there would be NO market left for animal cruelty cages and farming.

We raise organic beef and chickens on our farm. It is much more time consuming and costly to raise animals this way even though it is better for us and the animals. My fruits and vegetables are also organic. I am lucky to live on a farm and be able to benefit daily from it. But since it requires more work it will stay more expensive and some people are just not willing to pay the price. The chickens and beef we sell is pre ordered and pre paid and our customers have no complaints because of our reputation. The organic market in a grocery store is not big enough yet to help us to profit from all of our hard work

I would like to say it was lovely to hear from a kind soul like you that takes the time to raise these animals in the proper way rather than just for the money, like you said there is not much profit in it for you now but there will be soon hopefully and you soul will go to better heights for being kind. You must get best response for you efforts.

I am glad you are a good farmer. I think that there are many good farmers out there. I dont think it necessarily has to be more expensive to raise animals humanely. I dont understand why there is a bias against farmers by the consumers of their wares. I think the real problem is the marketers and wholesalers who benefit the most from the food that goes to the supermarket. I am more inclined to say the problem is the market.

tell me what is the meaning of no need for farming if you didnt have farming we wouldnt have produce to eat. nor would there be grain to make bread. I don't understand what you have against farmers or farms. farmers are who provide all the food we eat today.

I have nothing against farmers... That is why I rated the other person best response for doing it the proper way! I have something against animal farming in the sense of battery farming. That is why I said fair enough if people choose to eat meat but if we chose organic free range rather than ones that are cooped up in tiny cages or so rammed into sheds then there would be no need for THAT type of farming.

I agree with you. However I enjoy KFC and macdonalds, I would hate to see them go out of business. The one thing I have a huge problem with is veal.

Funny you brought this up. My husband and I decided that we were going eat mostly vegetarian and that when we have meat it will be organic free range. I do think that eating other animals is just the way of the world, but I do think they should be treated humanely. Factory farming makes me sick. A concern that I have is that I have heard that even if something says it is free range, it just means that the animal has the opporunity to go outdoors, but that doesn't mean that the animals do so. Is there a way to know that your meat has been raised humanely??

I was chatting with my brother about this the other day and he was saying the best place to buy free range is from a farm shop as supermarket labels can be misleading. Free range does not necessily mean they have been well treated or killed humanly.... it is best to actually research the shops in your area. They are very willing to give information when they have nothing to hide!
