Do you like freshwater or deep sea fishing best?

Do you prefer freshwater or the ocean to fish? I guess for me it all depends on what I am fishing for. If I want to fish for bass I prefer freshwater. If I want to fish for a variety of fish I go deepsea fishing. I love to fish for snapper red and mango. I love going 20 or 30 miles out and catching things like octopus and ribbon fish. Sharks and blues. I just love to fish. A bad day of fishing beats a good day of work. I live in Florida so I have lots of water no matter where I go. Where do you live? Do you have more than one fishing spot that you frequent? Do you prefer only single type of fishing? Do you fish for sport or relaxation?

I am primarily a fresh water fisherman. Living in California my whole life, I have fished many a stream and lake for trout, salmon, bass, and some other fish. I have done some ocean fishing from piers but want to talk about my most recent outing. It was the most amazing fishing experience ever. I was in the Dominican Republic recenly on business and we had some free time one afternoon so a few buddies and I decided to charter a boat. We went about 10 miles out in choppy water, everyone was just relaxing and 2 hours in we hooked something big. At least it was big to us as this was the first deep sea experience any of us had ever had. The fish turned out to be a 7 1/2 ft. 200 lb. Blue Marlin. Woo Hoo!!!. There were 5 of us fishing and we each took turns at the rod and it took us about a1 1/2 to bring in the boat. The deckhand later explained to us that we were lucky to have caught it as it was not in season and he said that it was quite small. Oh well, it was still the greatest thing to happen to me while fishing.

WOW.. That is a big fish to me as well. Although I have been deep sea fishing a thousand times I have yet to catch anything that big. Congratulations on your catch. I hope you get to do it again.

I am not a fishing person, but I have fond memories of going fishing with my Dad. He and his brothers were avid fishermen. We lived on the Calif. coast, so they went deep sea fishing a lot. sometimes my Dad would just sit on the shore with his line in the water, He also loved fresh water fishing. I remember fishing from a boat on the Salton Sea, too. That was fun. Now I live in Utah, so we are limited to fresh water. A lot of people fly fish the rivers, here.

I prefer to go fishing in deep sea, because the variety of fish around there is bigger, of course, and so are the climateric conditions, but I don't look at danger when it comes to one of my favorite hobbies all around :)
