xbox will not read anything, but starts up fine.

my xbox system was running funny for a while;i.e. lines in the screen during game play at times.So I used a disk cleaner like most people do.It did not require any solutions. But anyway, it still does the same thing. You turn it on, its fine, you can do anything but put in any disk. It won't read it. I know there are websites that sell new Thompson or Phillips dvd drives. Has anyone purchased any of these products, and do they work. Sincerely xbox screamer.
