Why aren't the Eels popular yet?!

I love the Eels. I first heard them years ago when Susan's House was released over here in the UK. The song creeped me out, but I never forgot it. A couple of years later, I saw Beautiful Freak going cheep and bought it. Thus my addiction began! Their music gets used on previews and in films, but hardly anyone knows who they are. And apparantly there's only four fans here at mylot. It's so...sad :(

I think it is great when a bad I love is not "popular" because then it is not thrown into the wheels of the monster media machine and spun around and played 24/7 a day on the radio and in music vide television and then the band does not become such an in your face product and it can be a more intimate experience over all...yes

and the word BAD of course was my typo meaning BAND and now I should probably go read a topic about how people are too lazy to use the spell check and comment preview thing...ha ha

Hahah I'm always making typos. My hands aren't as fast as my thoughts. I agree with the thing about things sort of falling prey to the media monster. Because I like they're not over played and they're special. But I feel they deserve more for their contribution to the music world. And it would be nice to hear them on the radio more!

In belgium they are pretty popular. I also like his music, but is a little bit of a stranger. It is maybe because of that that he isn't so popular. He also lost a lot of his family so he knows how to handle emotions. You really feel the emotion in his songs.

Yes, he really seems to understand the morbid side of life, doesn't he? Apparantly he lost a lot of people around the time he wrote Electro-Schock Blues, and that album has song really amazing songs. Yey for Belgium though! Good taste!

They're quite famous, but yes indeed in the rock or alternative scene. Comercially they never really had a hit I think, maybe Susan's House came close. E his music is fantastic. He is one creepy guy, but he makes music so fine, special and alternative you can't deny it's really good. My first album was also beautiful freak, afterwards I also bought Shootenanny! (also for sure a great record!)

Shootenanny has one of my favorite songs (Lone Wolf), but I never thought it was their best album, really. I need to listen to it more. E is an amazing lyricist.

E deserves a lot more attention than he gets... but there's still time. for me Blinking Lights was perhaps the best album he's ever done, though Electro-Shock comes close as well.
