Well, DNA is the basic unit of life in the body. It is the DNA which acutally determines the characteristics of a person. Now coming to ur question....Well during fertilization of an embryo (ie) when infant is being developed inside a parent, the infant acquires some charateristics of either or both parents in the form of DNA...Moreover, as DNA of each person is unique, the DNa testing procedure can help determine parenthood.

It shows that the kid is yours by looking for the same gene coding inside your DNA.
