my friends has never been able to get OVER HER

hi friends i need some help.i have a friends who aws involved with a girl and he was madly in love with her.the relationship went quite nicely and everything was great.my friend was actually the happiest man alive.
but then the girl left him for a friend of his cos the guy was richer than my friend and had all the money to throw on the things she required.that was 3 years back.my friend has never bneen able to get over the incident and has stopped trusting girls.his health had deteriorated and now i am very worried about him.can you please suggest me what can be done,cos i am out of ideas.PLAESE HELP ME

did you try to talk to him? if yes and it did not work you should try more. try to explain that if the girl had left him for someone richer it means she did never really love him and she is the kind of girl who goes for money so she does not deserve your friends love. and not all girls are the same, i am pretty sure if he would give himself a chance and go out opening his eyes he would see many girl who would be happy to get to know him and make him forget of pain she caused to him and love him to be loved back. good luck to him!!!
