Piracy is very rampant these days, it doesn't only pertain to buying CD and DVD's but I think it has also something to do with photocopying books. HOw about internet downloads? Do you buy pirated copy of CD's and DVD's? It is so cheap right?

No I don't, but my brother does and yes it's because it's much cheaper. The whole idea of charging so much to make up for those that will steal it, is a bit ridiculous. All they are doing is charging their honest customers more. I don't know what a solution would be to stop piracy, but raising prices isn't it. IMO that just gives more people reason to steal or by a cheaper pirated copy. Maybe I just have an odd view on it, but that's my opinion anyway.

Yes, it's all about the price, we cannot blame people for patronizing a pirated copy.

I believe that piracty is stealing. The quality is low even if the price might be cheaper. I don't buy pirated copies but I have downloaded from the internet. Lowering the prices of the original CD's and Dvd's will help in cutting piracy down.

Well, I seem to be having trouble posting my response. It's really annoying! Anyway, I don't think it'll ever stop. Or certainly not any time soon, anyway. Someone will always find a way to cr@ck programs, movies, etc.

Piracy can only be stopped by consumer's own actions. If all of us make it a point not to buy pirated items and follow that religiously, I don't see any reason for the businesses involved in pirated items to flourish. Whom would they sell their items to, if they do not find any buyers for that. It cannot be stopped by any passing any law or act. The laws definitely serve as a guiding principle but they are useless without people's support.
