New MP3 Technology! Surround Sound!

The Fraunhofer Institute figured out a way to make mp3 files have full surround sound improving the quality of the sound even further. The big thing about this advancement is that to make the mp3s surround sound, only a small amount of data needs to be added to the mp3 keeping it a small file size. The file is capable of playing in all mp3 players. I thought this was pretty cool. What do you think about this?

is this technology suited for 2 speaker systems or 5.1 or headphones.Can you give me a some more info about it. If this enhances the sound quality on any of the speakers then it's going to rock some day.
