I love my dog. I have been struggling with depression for a while but now when I wake up in the morning I see my Dachshund and I have to smile. She's so cute. Does your dog or pets help with depression?

My cat is always there for me when I'm feeling depressed. Usually he doesn't like to sit in one place or be held for long periods of time, but when I'm feeling down he'll sit with me for as long as I need. Also, it's good to know that you're depended on when you're feeling unneeded. My cat needs me, and I need him just as much.

Yes, my pets help a lot. It's always very calming to go on a walk with my dog, or just cuddle.. And my cat, Shenzi, always stays with me and cuddles if I'm sick or if I'm depressed. They say animals really know when you're not feeling 100%.

My daughter also suffers from depression and yes, I think her dachshund helps her feel better. Although I think that would be true of any pet. Her dog, however, has really bonded with her. It seems like our dachshunds 'pick' a person to bond with. The oldest dog has picked my husband and the other one my daughter. I don't have one of my own (pout!).
