Get lessons, its very painful. I remember falling so many times.

You still fall, but lesson just shortens your learning curve.

The best thing I can tell you is to get a lesson. All ski areas offer lessons through the ski/snowboard school department. Also be prepared. How? Learn more about snowboarding at http://www.frostyrider.com/tips/

don't be dissapointed if u fall every 10 feet. it's normal and you'll get the hang of it befor you know. just remeber that if it's 30 minutes befoare you go home...and the last ride was the best, don't do another one cause you will co home sad..

I never took lessons and I'm doing fine, but I prefer to teach myself anyways. Don't get into the habit of "leafing" down the mountain. If you do, it will be hard to get out of it. Work on using your toe and heel side equally by carving down the mountain. Think of it as a "twisting rag" motion with your feet. Rotate your feet in such a way while you carve to make it easier. Faster is better! Speed is everything with snowboarding. If you go on a flat green, you're going to fall a lot. Start with the blues. It may be scary but once you get over your falling fear, you'll realize that speed is your friend.
