Why is that we can't apply Newtonian Mechanics to Atoms or smaller particles?

Its bcoz Newtonian Mechanics assume the object to b continuous but when we come on the particle the atoms are not distributed continuously but they are actually quanta,so we use quantum mechanics to deal with them.More over we have certain limitations such as Uncertainity Principle etc.
