Simple words with the power to bind, to build and to behold. If you've ever gotten thanked or given thanks, then you know its power. Just the fact that you can say it can be enough to make a difference, just as not saying it can make a difference it the negative way.
"Thank you" isn't just something that comes with "have a nice day" as you grab or paper or plastic. It's a sincere sign that something nice has occured. It's not just an acknowledgement that you've been positively affected by something but a chance to return positive emotions back to the giver.

I definitely agree. Thank you is such a simple phrase yet it has the power to brighten up one's day. I work in a call center and most of the people i talk to are always irate. I understand where they are coming from that is why i always try to do my best to help them out. Its frustrating at times and it really helps when i hear them thank me after helping them. Frankly, not everybody does.
I always try to see to it that i thank people who have helped me one way or another.
