Well, most of us here will agree to using content that has been pirated. From movies to tv shows, most of us download things off the internet and do not pay for it. Will this menace ever end? And is piracy really a menace? Or is it a friend to us?

well the thing is piracy is a menace to people who create the software they put their heart aand soul while preparing it and somone steals the thing and gives it for free it's a bit hurting to even hear such things....but u also have to notice the price they put up the software they could rate it according to the place and economical status of the people who reside in the distribution place....for example .Microsoft XP professional is sold at about 4000/- Rupees and pirated version is only Rs.100/-.....so what will people think of buying 4k or 100 ruppes ?but if XP is sold at a nominal rate of 1000 in india everyone will be willing to pay in for hte original OS .......only people who create software for welfare of others won't get their goods pirated greedy people deserve their things to be pirated....iF u want it to end i'll say give all things as a open source software

Well it is ultimately stealing I guess, but it has become such the rage that I think anyone who downloads materials for free just does it because they can get it for free. All you really need is an anti-virus to protect yourself and you are almost guaranteed to be safe in doing so. I download things mainly because it is convenient. But I rarely burn things anymore-I just add them to my hard drive and listen to music and use programs while I am on the computer.

It is legal to download any copyright material if the owner allows you to do so, and this is generally the case if it is for personal use. If the owner has not given permission it is theft (piracy). If the owner also authorises distribution, you may copy and distribute the material.

Well it is killing a lot of people here cause you will see alot of artist who are supposed to be living a good life and when you see thenm you see them in poverty cause where they are supposed to make money from someone somewhere is draining them via piracy. I sell books cd, bibles etc, one thing is that we sell ORIGINALS and evry body that has been to our shop or site knows and people are now responding.

From my point of view, piracy is evil thing ever done. It caused o lot of trouble and even disturbing the industries like musics, movies etc. Those who are doing that just like a thieves. But in a different side, i look piracy as a help for those who looking goodies in the cheaper one. Its up to people how to describe it, but for me its good :) what do you think about get something free, surely not rejected right..whatever it is, it just my view...

It depends on the person who uses it.if the person feels that the product does not provide value for money then he starts using pirated.so it is upto manufacturers to provide people Value for money.

Piracy is a friend to the people who commit them. From p2p up to torrent sites. It's a menace however to the developers and distributors who spend millions and countless man hours just to develop it. There are 4 reasons why people commit piracy: 1)they burn the software and sell it to someone else 2)the software they're looking for isn't available so they have to search elsewhere 3)the prices of the software they want may seem unreasonable/expensive for them. 4)Convenience - no need to leave your house to search for that music album, movie or program you're looking for. All the tools you need are right at your fingertips. All you need is a little patience.
