pruning fig trees to bear more

I have a Desert king fig tree . it took well when I planted it and its growth is good its gone from a whip to a fifteen foot tree in four years or thereabouts. it produces a good eating fig but only three or four fruits on the ends of the new growth branches. needless to say production is not that great. So! what can I do to improve production?
