Being frugal is not the same as being destitute, being destitute is a statement of condition. Being frugal is a choice, you can do something but you chose to do something else. Although the choice usually restrict your spending of resources. What have you done to be frugal? What did you give up? For how long? What was the out come? Was it worth it, to you? Would you advise others to do as you have done?

I have always been frugal, I learned it from my parents. Dad had a good job and we lived in a nice house and everything, but they were always good about not buying things just to have them. They taught me that having money in the bank for emergencies was more important than eating out 3 times a week when once was fine. I often buy things in thrift stores that are like new but that I could never pay full price for at the mall. I've also been lucky that my parents paid for college, so that I did not start out in debt like so many others, because that makes it easier to stay out of debt. I have to say that that it was totally worth giving up little things in order to feel financially secure like I do now; money in the bank and my own little house.

In being frugal myself I use public transportation, I never buy anything new or any more clothes, and continue to clean and wash what I already own, and I buy things at the Dollar Store such as shampoo plus conditioner to save from buying separately and toothpaste for a buck or two and use the cheapest DSL even though I have to wait longer for websites to open and I would advise others to listen in school, get a good job when you graduate and think seriously of a career or open your own business so you don't have to do what I do and wait for others to invite you out, go to dollar stores, never have enough to give Christmas presents to your loved ones and be frugal for the rest of your life like me, because you need to decide when your young what's most important instead of living life always wondering if I didn't need to be frugal, because to me being frugal is a hard choice.
