I purchased a lot of coins from an individual a few weeks ago, And in the lot was a coin I've never ran across before. Maybe someone out there can help me. On one side it has a large 2 with a leafed branch below and the date 1898 below that. On the other side it has what looks to be a two headed dragon with winds, and both heads are wearing a crown. The coin looks like copper and is about the size of a penny. There is no other writing. Any ideas?

I doubt if the one explained in your posting is a coin at all. It could be a token, like the various temple tokens in India. Most probably it must be a temple token from India. The metal used, the inscribed year, and the twin headed dragon suggest that. By the way, what is the nature of the dragon? I mean it's origin. Is it the Chinese type? or Indian? or any other? May be some of our friends are familier with the piece. Let's wait.

First off, you should try to determine the country of origin the coin was minted. My first thought was that the coin was a '2-cent piece', issued in the United States, but the year was wrong, and the obverse description does not fit any design of a U.S coin. What writing is on the coin? Any characters that resemble writing?
