I am considering openinga coffee shop in Chaing Mai Thailand. My partner lives there and will oversee the project. I am looking for any suggestions that anyone would have to help us in this venture. We have located a peice of land that has no building on it. It is located in a good area, and is wooded. Our idea is to buy a trailer, or stall, and place it on the land. Set up an area and many area's on the ground for people to enjoy there cup of coffee. We are hoping that this unique atmosphere along with music and maybe interenet access will create an atmosphere that tourists will enjoy while vacationing in Thailand. Any suggestions would be great!

I think the idea is great. I have several friends who started their coffee shops from scratch and it's a little different though. Their shops were located in malls and other public places. Maybe the principles are the same with other businesses. You have to develop the site. Purchase equipment necessary to operate the business. If you are thinking of serving just simple coffee, you may not need lots of capital for the equipment. If you want to serve espresso and other coffee preparations that have an appeal to foreigners you must be ready to purchase coffee makers that costs roughly US$2000 to start with. Get the training you need to operate the machine and I tell you, it's not easy. If you plan just to serve ordinary coffee or brewed coffee, then that simplifies things.

That sounds lovely, I had a dream of opening a coffee shop with an area where we could sell our handmade crafts but things happened and we never did, but your idea sounds wonderful, I hope it works out for you, if you want it hard enough it will.
