Does exact translation to English help? or there are times that you have to translate the thought (or the sense) and not the exact words? Any concrete examples?

just like the idioms. when they say black sheep of the family, that doesn't mean that youre a sheep, anf you're black right. otehr example is that it's raining cats and dogs but it only means raining strongly. ahihi..

You dont need to translate the exact meaning of every word just to express your thoughts. It will surely have a different meaning plus sentence construction differs from one language to another. Its much better to translate or express the thoughts/ideas into words.
