How does myLot work

My question is, how does mylot actually work? I mean i have read the faqs. But i still dont get it. I think its a fantastic idea to pay for posts (however it's likely to cause even more problems with scammers). But if we are being paid for posts, Mylot must make money somewhere otherwise they would just go bust. I realise that i'm less than an hour old here, but it interests me. Also, another thing i was unable to get an answer for from the faqs is how do the payments work? IE how much do you earn for a post?
