I think Dinesh Karthik deserves to become a regular opener both in tests and one dayers taking into account his talent, performance and mental toughness. At age 22, he has done a remarkable job for India in South Africa and I feel he deserves to be given the above break in his promising career. He and Dhoni can exchange gloves behind the stumps depending upon the circumstances. My friends, what do you think?

i think he has done enough to show that he is good enough to replace ms dhoni as the test wicket keeper, but i think dhoni should still be the oneday keeper

Thanks, Dhoni is irreplacable as a oneday wicket keeper. But my point is both these guys can easily be in the playing 11 purely as batsmen in test matches and can exchange gloves behind the stumps in future.

i would like this reply here cos i hav been previliged to play with dinesh karthik he is from chennai , and he played in our chemplast team where my coach coached him He is a different character we never tought he would be this Great but he had the shades of them they way he used to bat in our nets were really cool he was more a wicket keaper than a batsman but then he started scoring runs in ranjis am happy for him he deserves his place , for such a nice person without an y much MONEY or RECOMENDATION to be up theree in the cricket team likeindia kudos to him

i dont think that dinesh karthik is matured enough to handle the pressure at the international level....he has not played many matches and i think that he should first gain experience playing the domestic cricket then he should be given a chance to prove himself.

I hope you understand what you have written. Here's a guy included in the only final test of an alien tour, amidst dejected team mates, surrounded by sharp hostile fielders and facing world no 1 shaun pollock and other pace bowlers in a bouncy and seaming track, coming out with flying colours in BOTH innings OPENING for India (where his illustrious team mates failed, both in opening and middle order), gaining the praise of greats like Barry Richards in the process (who particularly has said that he is the new face of aggressive cricket in India, impressed by his fighting qualities and temperament), and you tell me he's not matured enough and has to play more Ranji matches. Who needs to mature my friend, you or him?

Yes, i think this is the best time that karthik should get a break when he is performing very well. Encouragement given at the right time will make him better experienced and contribute in a better way to the team in the future.

But as far as I know cricket is a game played more between selectors than between players. So I beleive Its not important whether karthik plays well or not as long as he does not have a patron among the selectors.

Why not he has performed well under pressure and overseas. It is really very difficult to play under pressure and he did that well keep going Dineh.

We cannot judge a player by just one innings. So,he cannot become a regular opener so early in his career.Yeah, i do agree with you that he is a talented player. He has to be given chances. But we cannot take it for granted that he will be a regular opener so soon.In one days when we have the likes of ganguly, sachin, sehwag, dhoni its quite impossible for him so early. He should be given chances first and then decide his position depending on his performances.

i think when sourav and sehwag and gambhir are in the back up i dont see any need for dinesh karthik to open the innings i think he should take rainas place

Who can underestimate his talent after watching those precious first and second innings of third test with southafrica? He is going to be a promising player for the team.
