Catholicism and the Ten Commandments

I haven't been able to reply someone out there who wanted to know what teh truth is.
I heard that the fourth commandment that talks about the Sabbath was removed by teh early Catholics; and teh last commandment was split into two.
May I ask why? Why was God's Law changed - when and why?

God's law was never changed because Jesus said "i have not come to change the law and the prophets. . ., i have come to fulfill it., although i forgotten the whole verse, you can verify this in the bible in the New testament.
