The first ever Japanese born hockey player hit the ice in a NHL game when Yutaka Fukufuji, played the goalie position in the 3rd period for the LA Kings. Oddly enough, another LA team making history! I'm happy to see the young man get a chance at a game he obviously must love! What do you think?

I would say that that is a big step for the NHL, and hockey as a sport itself. You don't see very many hockey players outside of North America and Europe, but now it's evident that it is spreading worldwide. It must have been amazing for this guy to have made history like he did.

There are certainly specific ethnic groups that you rarely if ever do see in hockey. It used to be unheard of to see a black man playing hockey, now there are a few. NHL in particular pretty much used to be Russian, Czek, Canadian, US, and a few odd European countries. I think it's only a matter of time before we find some wonderful players elsewhere for sure and this was just one step in that direction!

I think this is a great story as I think the sport should not be limited to certain nationalities. It should be open to people of all races and nationalities if they have the athletic ability and skill to play this fast paces and rough sport. He must be a very good player to have made it to the NHL. Many people do not get that far so good for him and hope he does very well. Maybe this will help inspire others who want to play this sport or other sports.

It's neat to be a part of a ground breaking event in our time!
