was anyone successful with poinsetta this year?

I wanted to make last year's poinsetta plant red again. I read that I should keep the plant in total darkness for 12 hours a day and give it sun the other 12 hours. This was to be done for 8 - 10 weeks. Well, I started with only 6 weeks before Christmas. At least once a week I would leave it in the closest all day and another night, I would forget to put it in there. LOL So.... I did not have a red poinsetta this year.

Oh no! Of all people I thought maybe you might have been successful with achieving something like that. I've never even tried to do it. I also didn't buy any new poinsetta plants this year. I did grow 4 pots of Amaryllis that turned out beautifully. That's the plant I really love at Christmas now rather than Pointsettas.
