I would let him/her. Both of my parents were marines and my hubby is in the army. So if that was something my child wanted i would stand behind them 100%.

I know i'd freak out at first. And after calming myself down, i'd talk him/her out of it. However, if his/her reasons are reasonable enough, i might change my mind. As one of the responds posted, i'd be happy as long as his/she's happy.

Being a military family already, I would be inclined to allow them, although my husband might have something else to say about it. It is a lifestyle, though, and for that reason in addition to the life-risking aspect, it is not to be taken on lightly.

I would let him. It is a great deal. If they had a future somewhere else I would encourage them to do what interested them, but if they wanted to be in the military, why not? The military is a sweet deal, pay for college, free health insurance, training, character, its everything.

I'll definitely try to talk him out of it. But if really wants to join and is happy about it, then I'll let him.
