Why do most cars have speedometers that go up to at least 130 when you legally can't go that fast on any road??

Cmon haven't you seen movies!?! What if one day a cop needs to borrow your car to chase down a killer or save the world! Lol, I'm not sure why, but I regularly go over the speed limit!

No, probably not, I just like to use my imagination on things! I guess my next question is why do they have a governor that prevents the car from going really fast?

As already pointed out, Many countries &especially rural ares do not hv any set speed limits....And the car companies cannot afford to make cars with different speedometers for separate countries....They r here to make business, nt run out of business making speedometers.... So it is upto us to follow the traffic rules according to geographical allowances & hence remain within the set speed limits.

Also at one time there weren't the limits there are no adays with speed. Some roads, especially wide open roads in rural areas had no set speed limit. Some countries do not have speed limits as well. Even though here the speed limit might be tops 70MPH in other countries there is no limit so they can do 130, although I wouldn't want to be around when they do.
