you can upgrade windows 98 to windows xp..but degrading windows xp to windows 98..i dont try it yet..but i think windows xp will not allow it..the best way is use two operating system in your computer..simply partition you hardisk and install it..

you can .. bu you would loose the boot and partition information and in effect loose winXP completely .. that is NOT recommended .. what you can do is backup all your information and fomat your disk. then install win98 FirST and then install XP.. higher versions of the OS are always backward compatible..

Yes you can install windows98 on winXP. To do this you will need to boot from the win98 CD and just install, else winxp wont allow you to degrade the version if you boot into winxp and try to install win98! Windows Policy sucks big time! I don't remember if the OS selection menu comes out or not but you can always add it later on using sysedit. ---One condition!! If you have a WinXP on an NTFS partition, you wont be able to install win98 on it becoz win98 doesnt support ntfs partitions..

yes you can do the same. For the simplification, install the other windows in the other drive than the older windows. This will definitely solve the problem. Even i've done the same.

Yes. I've got both on mine. Just install 98 normally. XP can operate in "compatible" mode, anyway, so there's no real conflict. 98 is particularly useful for the pre-XP software which it doesn't seem to like much. You can always go back to XP, just figure out how you want to save things when using 98, if they're also to be used on XP.

YES! You can upgrade an exisitng system using windows 98SE to a Windows XP Home or Windows XP Professional or you can overwrite the existing operating system right away Just a tip: try to back-up your files because when you try to do a total change on the Operating system you would be prompted to do a format.(FORMAT- this process would erase all contents of your hard drive). Hope this helps!
