Why some countries develop nuclear weppons?

the countries develop nuclear wepons because it show how powerful we are i the world and we can u when there a war between them.they cant destroy there own store of nuklear weppons becaus they hae to show who intaleget the people are in the comtry are.

well they do it for protection so other countries cant hurt them and to scare other countries so they dont attack them i remember learning aobut the cold war between tthe ussr and us and we kept building more and more of them because it would scare them so they dont attack

Because they can and they think it will lead to peace. Just seems that it just leads to more bloodshed. Even if they agreed to destroy them, then someone somewhere would keep one or two and then we would have problems then too. Such a shame!!

Developing and building a nuclear weapon in a current world situation is crucial to be a really independent country that can't be invaded by any other country. Nuclear weapon is also a method of war prevention, since countries with such a weapon won't attack each other, because it would be kind of nonsense.
