Electrical outlet spacing at open stairway

Do I need to put an electrical outlet in the floor at my open stairway 6' away from the nearest wall to meet code spacing of electric outlet spacing?

The building codes vary from one area to another. You need to go to the city building, they can give you a copy of the codes and answer your question for you. :)
