Life in the Universe

I have to write a paper for my Life in the Universe class. I need some help choosing a topic. The paper can be expository in nature (that is, I can describe an event or occurence) or persuasive (that is, I can develop and defend a thesis or view). Any interesting suggestions? I'm thinking maybe "SETI" or "Life on Mars" but I don't know.
