The Cavern Club in Liverpool has just celebrated it's 50th anniversary with a 13 hour party. Credited with giving the Beatles there first break -they played there 292 times - it was demolished in 1973 to make way for a ventilation shaft for the new underground rail loop line. The shaft was never constructed and the club was rebuilt in 1984 on part of the original site using 15,000 bricks from the original club.
