Are horror movies just gore and no suspense? / myLot

I have not seen any really good horror movies lately. They seem to all lean towards blood and guts and gore and not so much suspense anymore. They are not so much scary as they are just scenes to turn your stomach. Is this the permanent trend these days? Anyone like today's movies better, rather than the horror films of say, the 60's? the 50's?

I haven't seen much horror movies, just watched Saw series and 2 parts of Hostel, I liked both the film, it's good horror flicks...

i prefer japan horror movie such as the ring or battle royal (but i think its a thriller tho) . hollywood thinks the best way to draw 'ghost' is associated with monster of sort:D
