Why is the Earth's average temperature rising?

Is there something going on around the world that I don't know about? Will the earth eventually be like "Waterworld" with Kevin Costner and stuff. Is this year just part of one the mini cycles that is experienced every ten years or so. My family and I went all the way to ohio and pennsylvania for skiing and it was warmer up north and no snow compared to where I'm from in Florida and Georgia? I need some answers.

the temperature of earth rising not because it is a natural phenomena.it is because of the human activity that keep destroying the environment.it is the human fault that always cutting trees,released the carbon dioxide that will make the earth temperature rising,and many more.so think about it.are we try to destroy or protecting the earth.
