How Many People Are In Sao Paulo? / myLot

I lived in Sao Paulo for about 2 years and there are a vast amounts of people there. There are so many that they rotate when you can drive your car in the city depending upon your license plate number. I think there are over 20 million people in the Metropolitan Area, but I am not sure. Anyone know? Has anyone been there?

I was born in Sao Paulo and lived there many years. The Metro area is over 20 million people with 4 to 5 millions cars. The rotation is more due to pollution problems than anything else.
