Are Reality Shows Really Real?

There are several reality shows currently on TV lke Big brother, Paradise Hotel, Simple Living, etc. But my question is whether any of the things they show on these reality shows is real? My take on it is that all these are scripted shows and people just follow their role. Why else would someone show their bad/mean side on national tv? Whats your opinion?

well i dont think these shows are exactly real, i think that most of it is written and fixed, its just an idea to make people excited about something, and by the way its a very clever & a useful idea
