Curly hair people : what do you use to straighten your hair?

I have tried everything to temporarily straighten my hair. Here is what I do now that seems to work the best. After I shampoo and condition my hair and rinse it out. I put a straightening cream by fructis on that I leave in and comb though my hair. Then I use the blow dryer and do sections at a time. I brush my hair and blow dry at the same time. Then I use my hot iron/chi/flat iron whatever you want to call it, to go over the little frizzies and kinky stuff I have around my face. I just use a regular hairdryer. I have heard about those ionic ones and wonder if they really work that much better. What do you use?

I have one of the "ionic" hair dryers. I have noticed that it seems to dry my hair faster but no other differences. It's nice that it doesn't take 10 minutes to dry my very thick hair! LOL Otherwise I just use a good conditioning shampoo & conditioner and use my flat iron on it when I feel like it.

really? so you can really tell a difference? what type of ionic hair dryer do you have? I have looked around and they seem to be pretty expensive.

I know. People always want what they can't have, but really sometimes it is more easy to have straight hair. I can usually go a few days without washing my hair. When I have straight hair it is real easy to brush it when I need to look nice and leave the house. With curly hair if it is messy you have to start all over and shower and wash it again. You cannot brush curly hair.

wow, isn't it funny? i mean, i have straight hair, but i had it curled recently, and guess what? i just love my new look! lol! seriously, i wouldn't recommend using irons to straighten your hair. i heard they could get pretty mean with your hair. i have a friend who used hair irons, and now she has to undergo hair treatments just to get her hair back in its glossy and healthy condition.

after i wash my hair, i put a balm on that makes it not go frizzy and wild, then i blow dry my hair, then straighten it with hair straighteners to get the little curly bits out! :O)

I tried to chemically straighten it once. That did not work. I use a BIG round, hollow brush and a hair dryer, which will straighten it. At a hair salon, they have used a ceramic straight iron, and that was AMAZING. BUt I don't really do uch with my hair, so I don't feel like investing in one. But it was much quicker than using the blow dryer...

My hair is more coiled than curly. (I'm black) I use a relaxer in my hair. I've tried to do it myself, but it doesn't come out good, so I go to the hair dresser and they relax my hair. A hairdryer isn't enough to completely straighten my hair.
