do Mars become the new Earth?

I would think that the way the space program is going now, they want to try and tap Mars for as much info as possible. I believe they may want to use the planet for habitation someday, but not in the near future. They might also be interested in trying to find different resources on Mars that we can use on Earth, such as substitutes for oil and other power. I believe Mars will hold a ton of things for us, and we will spend a ton of time in next hundred years or so trying to figure out what Mars can offer us.
