Is Philippines really a banana republic?

Since banana in tagalog is "saging" they interpret then that Philippines is banana republic of they see it as having a saging economy? is that true that this republic is banana? can you give some view that it will help to explain that philippines is not a banana republic or Philippines really a banana republic?

i do not considered Philippines is banana republic because the its not totally dependent on limited agriculture, and ruled by a small, self-elected, wealthy and corrupt clique. However, the Philippines is politically unstable. Banana Republic is also ruled out because the government structure of the Philippines is no longered patterned or modeled on the colonia Spanish ruling clique. The government of the Philippines is somewhat pattern to the English or the French Type on some reasons...
