Is writing a decent career choice?

I have a very big passion for writing because it is a wonderful way to communicate with others. You can tell a story, write a song, a letter or even a symphony. The way I choose is through letters. I have been hesitant to write my own book due to I've never been inspired by literature in the past. As things drag along here I think about what jobs I'll take or where they might be and I can't think of any.... but I know I can write. Can I have your opinion... maybe tell me what you did to find yourself or how you decided on your career choice?

Writing is a very good career choice as I am already into it. I have about 6 years of experience in writing on various issues like travelling, lifestyle, business, sports, films and music, etc.

Where did you learn from? Did you go to school for it? Would that be a good choice? Maybe take some classes and get more knowledge on what I'm doing.. understand the basic facts and maybe some background? Opinions please.

For me it's not a career choice, it's what I love to do. I'm lucky enough now after 16 years of doing it for publication, that I am earning more from it and gradually it is becoming a main source of income. I also love sites like Mylot though, because I can write for it and hopefully share information, and learn from others too.

I believe that writing is a great career choice. Sometimes writers have hard times, because writing books can be a downtime, and a time where you aren't making any more, and sometimes writers will write but have to work other jobs on the side because they just aren't making enough just by writing books. You could always combine writing books with freelance writing..so you could write for publications and online sites that publish content so you can earn extra income.
