French Fries cooked in olive oil?

I know that french fries aren't the healthiest food to eat because it contains alot of oil with the way it is cooked. Some oily foods nowadays are used with olive oil to lessen cholesterol. Have you ever tried fries cooked in olive oil? Or do you know a restaurant/place who serves one like this? I'm just curious.

I really love to eat french fries sometime we buy ready made on a supermarket but most of the time we just order in a well known fast food chain. I never tried to cook french fries with a olive oil, maybe I will try it on sunday. Thanks.

In India, People just complain but Still we love the French fries... It's just Phshycology at times...We eat potatoes cut in cubes and call them healthy when we eat them at home but call them junk when we eat them at Mcdonalds.. Now wht the hell .... Everythin in limits its gooooooood.... SO forget olive oil and just eat them ... Life's toooo short to eat healthy fooood...

DITTO! It's a bit more expensive compared to other oils but the healthy effects are worth the extra cents.

I love french fries and I love olive oil for cooking but I don't think that french fries fried in olive oil would taste that good. Olive oil tends to have a mild bitter taste that is usually masked when cooking. But not many things are deep fried in it because first of all it has a lower burning temperature than most other cooking oils and second, because of that reasonM the fries might get saturated. It's worth a try because of health reasons but it might not taste that great....just my thoughts.

by the way, i heard somewhere that olive oil is best when you don't heat it. that's why most cooks use it in salads. so using it for french fries may not be a good idea if not expensive.
