Is reading already a forgotten art?

Reading is one of the best joys in life. But with the advent of the Internet and the continued accessibility and popularity of television, it seems that the art of reading is dying out. Young people and children no longer seem to enjoy reading books. I notice that children would rather play computer games and watch TV rather than read a book. They would rather watch a cartoon show than read an enyclopedia. That is why I think Harry Potter books are great for children because it exposes them to reading, although it's not about a serious, brain-boosting topic. Do you think reading is a forgotten art? Why do you think books are no longer in vogue nowadays?

I tend to think that way too but every time I go to book stores, it is always crowded with people. Maybe it's not a forgotten art after all. I like reading myself and I make it a point to at least finish 2 books a month.
