How should we Discipline our babies?

I have a 14 month old baby boy and he thinks spanking people is a normal thing to people... I want to correct his wrong doings but im not sure if i had to. Others say it will pass, others say give small punishment like spanking in the hand but it breaks my heart to see him cry.Please help..

No way, I would never spank my kids. Something wrong that he does, I put him on his crib and let him cry for like 1 minute.I show him my pointer finger in side by side motion, stating no. He is 12 months old and already know what that means.

I've been doing that for a quite sometime and i'm not sure if it works. But I'll try again.Thanks for the advise. Surely it is hard But it is trully a fullfilling to raise a child.
