Are you a garlic lover and can't do without garlic in your cooking or meals? I love garlic and use it often in various cuisines. Garlic not only pleases the palate but also has medicinal values. So here are some goodie facts and tips about Garlic.. The more finer you cut the garlic the stronger the garlic flavour in your dish. If you want only mild flavouring cut the garlic into bigger chunks. Lightly crushing the cloves with the ball of the hand or flat of a knife makes peeling the skin much easier. When crushed or finely chopped it yields allicin, a powerful antibiotic and anti-fungal compound (phytoncide). It also contains alliin, ajoene, enzymes, vitamin B, minerals, and flavonoids. More benefits of Garlic can be had at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garlic Did you know eating parsley actually reduces "garlic breath"? That works only for a short while though so don't forget those mints after garlic!! And here is a quick easy to make healthy dish Garlicky Holy Guacamole: 2 ripe small Hass avocados 1 lemon, juiced 1 large clove garlic, minced 1 jalapeno, seeded and finely chopped 1 small plum tomato, seeded and finely chopped 1/2 small yellow skinned onion, finely chopped 1 teaspoon coarse salt Blue corn tortilla chips, for dipping Cut avocados in half around the pit. Separate the halves. Pop out pit with spoon, then scoop flesh of avocados into a bowl. Squeeze the juice of a lemon over the avocados. Squeeze the juice with the lemon halves facing cut-side up, allowing the juice to spill down over the sides of the lemon into the bowl. This method keeps the seeds in the lemon and out of the guacamole. Add garlic, jalapeno, tomato, onion and salt to the bowl. Mash and mix the ingredients into a chunky dip using a fork. Serve with blue corn tortilla chips. Enjoy!!

I love garlic as does my family. I use it almost every night in whatever I am making. I use it slightly crushed, minced, diced, chunked or as a paste depending on my dish. I love it in dishes containing chicken, beef or pork. Vegetables with garlic are excellent. Soups and stews always have garlic in. We love garlic bread, rolls, biscuits. Garlic is a wonderful addition to any meal and is awesome for your health.

Oh yeah!I like garlic too. It adds a lot of flavour to vegetable fries and so many indian cuisines. I have dry garlic powder and you know what, I make my instant garlic bread just in seconds, I just sprinkle it over the bread toast and serve it with marinara sauce and it doesn't taste bad at all. Its the best cure for cold if combined with black pepper. Hey about your recipie I know, it would one of the nice and healthy chat pata snack for this cold weather.

I am an avid garlic user. I love the stuff, so vampires beware! LOL There really isn't many dishes I don't use it in. My grandmother told me once, that garlic helps you sleep better at night. It also seems to help repel misquotes. I feed garlic tablets my dog that I buy from the vet.

I love garlic and it goes with everything i cook (that when I cook and it's rare :) I know of its health benefits and I used to swallow it raw after slicing it during my sports competition days, the smell can be a problem but mint helps removing it. thanks for the info :)

This is kinda off the path, but I heat you can give it to your dogs to keep the fleas away. Small doses in tablets daily. Fleas don't like the taste. lol I bought some tablets recently at the pet store but have not started them yet.

Wow.. thanks for the recipe! Guacamole is a new fave of mine, well I loved avocados way way back but Guacamole is something new for me and I love it. I also like the smell of garlic, it makes every dish more appetizing, and just the aroma itself mmm... really good.. how ironic, it smells good when you're cooking with garlic but it your breath won't smell that pleasant when you eat it. ahaha!

Hi Greengal, I love garlic. I love it as a spice on my dishes. I love the garlic chips (dried & thinly sliced garlic in a bottle, it can be use for salad or just eat it that way). It has a lot of medicinal benefits too. It can lower cholesterol, toothache, headache, fever etc. It was even used to harden the nails (not sure about this). But the smell of it can really stay in your mouth & in your clothes (during cooking). But it's great.

Oh yes, the smell can take forever to go!! When I cook with garlic I have all the windows open, we live in an apartment and if I don't allow enough ventialtion it can be days before the smell is gone. It's a lovely smell but not for long..hehe

I live in a tropical agricultural country. Friends say that snakes hate garlic, although I still have to find real evidence about that. I'm not fond of snakes so i want to crush a lot of garlic and spread them on my lawn. I don't care what other people may say as long as I'm safe, hehehe.
