Do you have any good Dog Treat recipies? Here is one I like to make. Oatmeal Dog Biscuits 1 1/2 cups hot water 1 cup rolled oats 1/3 cup butter OR margarine 1 Tbls. beef OR chicken bouillon granules 3/4 cup dry milk powder 3/4 cup cornmeal 1 egg - beaten 3 cups whole wheat flour -Stir together water, oats, butter, and bouillon; allow to stand for 5 minutes. -Stir in milk powder, cornmeal, and egg until combined. -Stir in flour, 1/2 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. -Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 4 minutes, adding more flour if necessary to make a stiff dough. -Roll dough out to 1/2" thick. -Cut shapes out of dough with a cookie cutter and place on a greased cookie sheet. -Bake in a 325 degree oven for 50 minutes. -Allow to cool and dry on wire racks. Notes: Store in refrigerator up to 1 month OR freeze up to 1 year.

I'm sure you could. All those ingredients are in human food as well.

Thank you so very much for sharing such an interesting recipe. I will definitely keep this in mind for the next time I decide to make some home-made dog treats for our dog again. I have a dog treat recipe that you could use as well.. I've made it for my dog several times & she enjoys them quite a bit.. I shall share it with you.. "Dog Biscuits" Ingredients: - 2 1/2 cups of sifted whole what flour - 1/2 cup of dry milk powder - 1 cube of beef bouillon, crumbed though - 1/2 teaspoon of salt - 1 cup of cooked ground pork - 1 cup of grated carrot - 6 tablespoons of shortening - 1 egg - 1/2 cup of cold water Directions: - Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Then lightly oil the cooking sheets. - Then in a medium or a large bowl, stir together the whole wheat flour, the milk power, beef bouillon, & then the salt. Then add the ground pork, the carrots, the shortening & the egg.. Then mix in the flour mixture while gradually adding the water to help to form a stiff ball of dough. - On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut in to desired shapes using the cookie cutters, & then reroll the scraps until no dough is left. Then place the cookies 2 inches apart on to the prepared cookie sheets. - Bake for roughly 25 - 30 minutes mins. in the preheated oven, or at least until the bottoms are browned. Then allow the cookies to set for a few minutes on the cookie sheet before deciding to remove them. Allow them to cool completely because if you end up taking them off to early they will ruin the shapes & so forth..

You can take 1 cup of wheat flour, 1 egg, 1 tsp.garlic powder, a little broth, and flour to make stiff, and roll out to cut, or hand roll it to a shape. Bake in the oven 350* for about 20 to 30 minutes. Let cool on rack, refrig or freeze.

Happy dog - Treats Yeah!
Here is my dogs absolute favorite (just made them yesterday). One box of corn muffin mix (the cheapest) prepare as directed on the box add one pound chopped liver (I chop the liver in the blender) pour the mixture on to a cookie sheet and when baking check at half the package recommend baking time and I lower the oven temperature at least 5 degrees from recommend heating. Cool, cut into squares, freeze and you have happy dogs. It makes a lot of treats at least two freezer bags full.

That sounds like an excellent recipe for dog treats. If I make them I want to make enough so they will last a while since I have 6 dogs. I didn't know you could freeze them. I will definitely try this. My dogs will be happy, they love liver. I suppose you could substitue the meat too if you wanted to?

Wow, I like your recipe! Here is the one I have used in the past: 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour 1 tsp sugar1/4 tsp salt 6 TBS butter 1 egg 1/2 cup dry powdered milk 1/2 cup cool water Knead dough for 3-5 minutes until it forms a ball. Roll to 1/2 inch thickness and cut into desired shapes. (I LOVE TO USE COOKIE CUTTERS unique to the season if it is near a holiday!) Bake on a lightly greased cookie sheet for 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Sometimes I added chicken or beef bouillion granules.

I make doggy biscuits sometimes I make alot at a time and have on ocassion made dog food. I have a recipe somewhere in my overcluttered house It isn't exactlly like yours there is no oatmeal in it. But I guess if it is good for us it is good for them I think I am going to try these to see if my dog likes them to that way she will have a little bit of variety. I usually just take a pizza cutter and cut it into 1-1/2x3 in strips and bake it that way they resemble the doggie bone treats better. Thanks.

Sounds good and healthy to me, and quite nutritions. In the winter I often just make "dogmeal" in the morning. My sister's dogs are living at my house. I do not do housedogs, but I do feel sorry for them. I will make oatmeal, with boulioun cubes, or leftover scraps, or a big spoonful of peanut butter.

I don't know of any myself, but the one you posted sounds interesting. I will have to pass it along to my sister, who has four dogs of her own. It's cool to be able to make our own dog and cat treats. Sure bests the hell out of buying them.

I have a flea one that I make sometimes. I've made them as Christmas treats for other family puppies and they seem to love them. Here's the recipe: FLEA AWAY DOG BISCUITS 2 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 cup wheat germ 1/2 cup brewers yeast 1 teaspoon salt 2 cloves garlic, minced 3 tablespoons olive oil or sesame oil 1 cup chicken stock, or beef or vegetable stock Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Grease two to three baking sheets. In a medium bowl, combine the first four ingredients. In a large mixing bowl, combine the garlic and oil. Alternately, add the flour mixture and the stock into the oil and garlic, beating until the dough is well mixed. Shape the dough into a ball. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough to a 12-inch circle. Using a two-inch biscuit cutter, cut the dough into rounds. (Or use a cookie cutter with a dog-biscuit shape.) Transfer the biscuits to greased baking sheets. Bake 20 to 25 minutes, or until the biscuits are well browned. Turn off the heat and allow the biscuits to dry in the oven for several hours or over night. Store in the refrigerator or freezer. Makes about 2 dozen biscuits.

That is a great recipe. My dogs love treats but they are so expensive. I will definitely use this one. If I find any will let you know. You must have a room full of recipes. My mom would be in 7th Heaven with you. She actually reads cook books, every page and she will have to tell me about every recipe that she thinks is good. She does this when we go camping and have to travel great distances so I have to listen....lol I do enjoy some of them though not the whole book!!! When we went to Michigan, she actually got through 2 whole cook books.
