the ring

I have never heard of the ring being worn on the right hand, but I suppose each country has it's different customs. Here in Ireland, a girl wears a diamond ring on her left hand when she gets engaged and then wears the wedding ring on the same finger as the engagement ring after she is married. Men don't usually wear an engagement ring, but I gave my husband a gold ring with a black stone when we got engaged. He wore this on his left hand and he didn't want a wedding ring as we were saving for a house.
