School and Work at the same time... good? or bad?

i'm still a college freshman and i'm very interested in looking for a part-time job to earn cash so that i'd be able to know what it's like to be in the world of making money. i'm wondering if it's a good thing.. someone told me that being a student and a worker is quite depressing because i'd use up all my energy. is that true? i want to have a part-time job so badly.. not that i'm in desperate need of money. i just want to know what it's like to be in business.. just for the experience because i'm thinking that it'll be really fun and interesting to be getting money without having to ask from my parents. i might learn something, you know.. i'd be able to put my experience in my resume when i graduate from college.. right..? i'm usually a positive thinker.. but in this, i'm quite uncertain. should i apply for a job while i'm still a student? what do you guys think?
