What is your favorite movie adaptation from a book?

As we all know, some of the best movies we've seen are actually based on a certain novel or a book. Now which book to film adaptations are your favorite? Here are mine: - The Hannibal series(from Thomas Harris' novels, of course) - Fight Club(from Chuck Palahniuk - one of my favorite writers) - Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange - Helter Skelter(documentary on the Manson Family killings by Vincent Bugliosi) - Kubrick's The Shining(a book from Stephen King) - Shawshank Redemption(still from Stephen King) - Stand By Me(from a novella by Stephen King originally entitled "The Body") - One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest(Jack Nicholson was brilliantly amazing on this film) - The Shipping News(enigmatic adaptation of Anne Proulx' poignant novel) - Lord of the Rings(the epic saga, the one and only trilogy)

My favorite is the Da Vinci code though i would have liked the movie to have been directed much better. But yeah it was a good movie. But i dont know if any of u know the movie if tomorrow comes it was an adaptation of the book by sidney sheldon and it was a pretty old movie but it was a good one!

yeah Da Vinci code is nice. Tom Hanks is perfect for the role of Robert Langdon. Just what i had exactly in mind. Most of the books written by Sidney Sheldon have been made to movies already. But, i haven't seen or read any of them. hehe. I'm not much of a romantic novel reader.

I was surprised that Shawshank Redemption was from a book and written by Stephen King. Probably the only thing he wrote that I totally loved. I'm not really a book reader so can't say much.

Hmm...I would also suggest The Shining and Needful things, also from Stephen King and both has been made to movies already.

I haven't seen much movies which are adapted in to movies, but my favourite movies adapted from books are .. The Shawshank Redemption The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Spanish & English) The Girl Who Played with Fire (Spanish) The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest (Spanish) The Sum of All Fears This are only the movie I remember at present, these were good movies, as good as the book ..
