So? What is it that really makes you happy?

I think the more I grow up the more happiness is getting vague and now I need to redefine what happiness is. When I was a kid, I'm happy when I get something I didnt had before, or something others have that I dont have and when I get that thing it makes me happy. I wish it could just be as simple as that as we face life. No not anymore. Okay so I'm in search for the real meaning of happiness. Real happiness is not really 24/7 and it doesnt necessarily a material or in any form that you can see. I remember I had this strange conversation with a guy some few years back and I can't forget it because it made me admire him. I asked him what are the things that really make you happy? and he said: "I'm not that really hard-to-please guy. We spend atleast 6 or 8 hours sleeping and the rest are full of activities. If I'm happy 10 minutes a day, then I am a happy man." Wow, isn't that something to ponder on? Some of us are whining over and over and some are working out their butts because everybody wants to be happy. Who doesn't? Well, it depends on what really makes one happy. For me, its getting simpler. It could be anything, could be cheap, could be expensive and sometimes FREE. What are these FREE things that could make us happy? Well, have a look on the other parts of the world, some of them are torn in wars while you are just sitting infront of your TV set. Can't you just feel happy to realize that you are not one of those victims of war? When you walk in the streets, do you wonder if there are people out there wishing that they could walk but they can't because they dont have legs or if they have, they are defective. When you open your faucet, do you ever wonder that there are people in Africa has to walk miles to get water or they just die along the way looking for drinkable water. There should be no reason why you are not happy now. There are so many things in life that you can be happy about. Just look around you. You sight itself is a blessing. Count those blessing no matter how simple they are. That is what happiness is all about. Smile is free, Can't you have one?

What makes me happy is to see my family happy. Their happiness is my happiness. On the other hand, simple things like praying, meditating, sharing a laugh with my husband or watching my baby does her things always lift me up. You have to discover what happiness is to you and start from there.

Happiness is what you make of it. Something that made you happy today, could make you sad tomorrow, depending on the circumstances. I think that the hardest thing for most people is to be happy with themselves and where they are in life. That's the hardest!
