what is BIG BOSS OR BIG BROTHER SHOW?

can anybody tell me wht is the show called big boss? or big brother in uk? i m really unaware of the show and want to know the show as long as i know the people are kept in a house for few weeks away from the world right? then why they want to stay there? only money is the point oranything else attracts them? is it pubilicity passion or what? and is it only to watch them living with the buddies or any intellectual thing is also present there?

Sorry even im unaware of what really they want to get out of that..But what i feel is its all they dont do naturally, tehy know that everyone is watching them,so i guess 95% of their part would be action only...Its not more like natural living..
