You are on an island in the middle of a lake. The lake is in a remote part of the country and there has never been a bridge connecting an island to the mainland. Every day a tractor and wagon gives hay rides around the island.Puzzled as to how the tractor had gotten onto the island, you ask around and find out that the tractor was not transported to the island by boat or by air.Nor was it built on the island Explain how the tractor got there?

Well if it's a lake then there's bound to be a Dam. So if there is a dam then one can stop the whole torrent of the water and dry the whole lake and then can bring the tractor to the island. Once it's there the dam can be released to once again fill up the lake. Howzzat.

not transported by sea nor by air? hmm. i guess people had already built an underwater tunnel before the tractor was transported to the island.

There could be many possibilities. The lake must be in some country and the tractor could be going around the lake, thus going around the island. Or as two others have stated, it can come to the island easily when the lake is frozen.

How about... at one point, there was no lake. But a local damn flooded the flatland, leaving only the tip of the highest hill not under water. That hill is now the island, and upon that island is the tractor...

The lake is frozen and the tractor drove on the ice.
